What is Grandfathered health plan coverage?
If your small business became enrolled with Healthcare Group before the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law on March 23, 2010 and you are enrolled in a Classic, Secure Advantage, or Active benefit option, you have Grandfathered health plan coverage and are able to remain in HCG’s Grandfathered benefit options. In order for a group to keep its Grandfathered status, all covered employees must remain in a Classic, Secure Advantage, or Active plan.

What is Non-Grandfathered health plan coverage?
If your small business became enrolled with Healthcare Group after March 23, 2010, your covered employees must renew into HCG’s Non-Grandfathered benefit options, Silver and Copper, during your next annual renewal. The Silver and Copper benefit options have the additional benefits required for Non-Grandfathered health plans and have corresponding higher premiums.
